
Karen Boone is an award-winning artist and graphic designer. Her artwork includes two Kentucky Derby Festival posters and a St. James Court Art Show poster. Design clients include Kleinert Kutz Hand Care, Treasure Bay Hotel and Casino, Divi Resorts in the Caribbean, the Merton Institute and Whole Alternatives.
Boone has designed top selling retail products and publications for fortune 500 clients. She has designed many books, such as Keeneland, Reflections on a Thoroughbred Tradition and ABC of Appalachia. Her work has been published in Communication Arts, Graphis, and she has won design awards from LGDA (Louisville Graphic Design Association) and AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts).
Boone has donated artwork/graphics for many causes, such as Kosair Charities, Art for the Animals(Shamrock Foundation) Multiple Sclerosis, Dare to Care, and The Zoom Group, which helps adults with mental retardation.
Boone is a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and the University of Louisville. She received her Master’s degree from the School of Design, Basel, Switzerland, had a year internship in Amsterdam, then worked for Pentagram Design in New York and San Francisco for a total of seven years. She also worked as a graphic designer for PAOS in Tokyo for two years.
She currently lives in Louisville KY. Her firm Karen Boone Design, specializes in corporate identity, web design, publications and fine art. Her latest paintings are done in milk paint and are very eco-friendly. She has a home-studio in Audubon Park, with her husband, musician Joel Timothy, with their son Ian Timothy.
